"Free" Software

Almost everyone using the Internet will have downloaded more or less software.  That's a fact, and not all free
software is malicious.  In the latest years however, there has been an increasing infection risk using shareware
or other forms of free software, where the "free" (in quotes) means that perhaps you do pay a price, but you
may not know how high it really is.

Due to increasing competition, the advent of zombie networks (some of which are actually commercially
manufactured, see the Malware pages), the risk is now very high.  In corporate networks, all end-user software
installation should be banned, if not for any other reason, the increased SUPPORT COSTS.

On this page we will try to cover some of the most well-known freely downloadable software and show you
where you stand using this software from a risk perspective.
